After watching the so called debate between Obama and McCain last night on TV, I could not help but post this photo (Photo was of GWB holding up the flag upside down at the olympics. It has since disappeared). With softball questions like "Does evil exist" given to the presidential candidates by Rick Warren, a pastor, my stomach never ceased to turn. CNN portraying Warren as an American religious icon and the candidates as someone who is actually interested in the country, supported my view that the media was nothing more than corporate propaganda. We were left to choose between the abstractions of charity or the fake nationalism of war. It seems that America has finally tied pseudo religion, politics and the media into one bundle of corporate fascism. Mussolini would be proud.
Pastor Warren used the phrase "the bible says" twice that I noticed but of course never supplied a chapter and verse for his poor paraphrases. Perhaps Pastor Warren should have had his CNN pals supply a teleprompter with citations on it. But of course, no one can accuse CNN (or the public) of being very bible savvy.
The housing crisis grows daily and The South's children continue to march off to war to defend America's corporations who hire illegals out from under their families at home. The lines at the soup kitchens get longer while the public is lulled to sleep by the media and another false prophet asks: "Does evil exist?" Yes, I would agree with the candidates that evil exists, but of course that was obvious considering the cast of characters.
Lastly, I would have you notice that the so called debate never asked any questions about immigration, the rising cost of fuel, the war in Georgia, foreign aide to Israel, the trade deficit with China, or bringing any troops home from abroad. Naturally the Saddle Back crowd that call themselves a "church" were concerned with abortion, human trafficking and gay marriage. This is very typical of upper middle class Christians that get their spirituality from a television while never having touched a leper (the homeless). Look closely at the photo above and say to yourself again that the temple will not fall. The Saddle Back Church with its so called debate brought to you by CNN is just another example of what America has become.
